When I first moved into my apartment, one important part of moving in was setting up the wireless internet connection. One problem I had was not knowing which router I should buy. I have a smaller one bedroom apartment, so I was told that I could buy a G router. I decided to head to Wal-Mart and see what they had for G wireless routers.
When I had seen the prices, I had noticed that a Belking G wireless router was the least expensive. I had also had heard of the company Belkin, so Idecided to go ahead and purchase it. I was able to find the model F5D7234-4 for $34.99. The belkin router had four ports for hard wiring if need be.
When I got home I had to look at the directions to set it up, but was able to run the cd set-up and was completed withing 15 minutes. I was happy to have the internet up and running because I need the internet for my job. A little over a year after having the wireless router I started having a lot of problems with the Belking G wireless router.
Instead of going out to the store and purchasing another wireless router, I decided to call the support team. When I contacted them it was like speaking to someone in India. I couldn’t understand a single word the man was saying to me and I had to keep asking him to repeat himself so I would be able to understand. As I continued on with the phone call they instructed me through the belkin router setup page to fix the connection setup that was done.
When they were done instructing me with changing some different configurations, I was able to connect to the internet. I was able to remain connected to the internet for only 2 days till it was disconneted once again. My next phone call was to Time Warner Cable because I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t the modem.
After my conversation with Time Warner service team, they tested the hard wire connection through the modem and it worked perfectly. Therefor I contacted Belkin technical support and I had to go through all the non english communication to try and fix my piece of crap router. I absolutley hate Belkin routers and will never buy another on in my life. I would have had a replacement one because it would have been covered under the one year warranty but it was just over a year.
I then went back to Wal-Mart and purchased a Netgear wireless router and have not had any problems once so ever. I f you need to buy a wireless router, look past a Belkin if you want a well built wireless router.
