For my birthday I received the Bobby Flay Cast Iron Grill/Griddle as a gift from my parents. I am currently living in an apartment and miss being able to grill outside. Our apartment complex has grills but are only around the pool area and we are not allowed to have any grills. This also upsets me because I would always cook on the grill at my parents house and enjoy being outside.
My parents have found the perfect solution for me to be able to grill inside my apartment. I had previously purchased the Nathan’s Grill/Griddle from Big Lots for $10, but have had nothing but disappointments. I had used the Nathan’s grill/griddle only twice before the coating starting peeling off. I had not submerged it in water nor used any abrasive scrubbing pad to clean the grill and the coating still continued to come off. I do not recommend anyone to buy the Nathan’s grill/griddle no matter how cheap you are able to buy it for.
I was very excited to see the Bobby Flay Cast Iron grill because I knew it would be something that would last. I first used my cast iron grill for cooking boneless chicken breast when my parents came over for dinner. All you have to do is lay it across your stove top and turn the burners on medium heat. It turned out amazing and the food was perfectly cooked! It was exactly like cooking on a grill outside and had perfect grill marks.
The only small pain with cooking with the Bobby Flay Grill/Griddle is the cleaning part. After each use I have hand scrubbed the grill with the scrubby part of the sponge. Even after cleaning the grill after each use, I still find that it is very difficult to get all the burned leftovers off the grill. I have been able to get most of the burned substances off, but it is very hard to get it perfectly clean.
After every wash it recommends to re-season the cast iron if you are using any types of soap. The re-seasoning instructions include brushing the cast iron grill with vegetable oil and placing it in the oven at 340 degrees for an hour. It usually created a little burning smell through the apartment but isn’t too bad to handle. These are the only small and minor problems I have found with the Bobby Flay grill/griddle.
I have also cooked London broil steaks, vegetables, shrimp, and also hamburgers! It is absolutely just like having a grill but within your own home. I fully and highly recommend anyone to purchase the Bobby Flay cast iron grill/griddle. It has been the perfect solution for not having a grill to barbeque on!
