This is Not Your Ordinary Bookstore...Over a Million Books and Much More!
Last week I was looking for books and couldn’t find them at Barnes & Noble, so I took a trip to the Concord Mills Mall. Once there I saw this huge bookstore called “Books-a-Million”. As soon as I saw this I dragged my boyfriend along with me into this store. I ended up buying 2 books that day. They were so cheap, like no more than $5-6 a piece! I went back recently and bought about 3 more books that were around the same prices.
This store does not only have books, they also have travel size games, movies on DVD, and board games. My boyfriend never thought in a million years that he would find anything in this store that he would like. He’s not really a big fan of reading for leisure! He found a drinking game that was kind of like chess. He bought it seeing that he was turning 21 soon and looking forward to having a big party. Even though he doesn’t like to read he still finds something interesting to look at when I am there looking at books.
I’ve decided that Books-a-Million is one of my favorite bookstores. I went online to see if they had a certain book recently and they had an ad for their membership card on their website. I read more about it and it is only $20 a month! I think that is excellent, members can get up to 50% off of books and other items including movies, games, and book-shelf ends.
I have been looking everywhere for the Harry Potter collection on DVD and all of the prices are outrageous anywhere from &50-$60! I personally think that is way too much for movies, even if it is a collection of 6 movies. I went on the Books-a-Million website to check prices, I realized that this store has the cheapest collection and guess who gets it?! That’s right, Books-a-Million members!!
I think that it is a great deal for only $20 a year for the membership. If you buy a lot of books, then you will most definitely get your money back for the year, in discounts that you get on the books, games, and DVD’s that you will buy. I definitely recommend this bookstore as compared to others stores like Barnes & Noble and Borders Bookstore. These other stores are extremely nice, but they seem to be a bit more expensive.
FYI – Books A Million is a nice store, but what I do is I go there to find the books that I like and then I write down the title of the book, the author and publisher and then I go on research online and I usually find it for 1/5 of the price! I buy my books from Amazon.com and other online sources at huge savings. The only cost is I have to wait a week or two to receive my books.

The local BAM has deteriorated grearly in terms of customer service. They had an older man working there who was so rude to customers. He was usually at the customer service counter up front. When I asked for a particular book, he snarled at me to go look for it! This was just after the store layout was changed. I had no idea if BAM had the book or where it might be. All I wanted him to do was look on his computer and see if the book was in stock, then direct me to the part of the store where I could find it. But after that kind of treatment, I decided to order it from amazon.
During later visits, I observed him rudely tell customers they could not check out at his counter and had to go to a register. I saw one woman put her book down and walk out.
Now that I have a Kindle, BAM is history! I will never visit that particular store again.
