WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE CLEAR INTERNET SERVICE. TRUST ME, YOU WILL BE SORRY. CLEAR IS A NEW INTERNET CARRIER CO. THAT MERGED WITH XHOM (AN OUT OF BUSINESS TV/INTERNET/PHONE SCAM). CLEAR TOOK OVER WHEN XHOM DISAPPEARED. IT SEEMS CLEAR IS JUST AS BAD, IF NOT WORSE.

IT IS ASTOUNDING JUST HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL THEY ACTUALLY ARE. IT IS QUITE OBVIOUS THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING. EVEN THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS YOU GET ON THE PHONE KNOW THAT CLEAR IS A JOKE. BASICALLY, THEY CAN’T PROVIDE QUALITY CONSISTENT INTERNET SERVICE TO THEIR CUSTOMERS. POINT BLANK. DOESN’T HAPPEN. THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS AND MONEY GRUBBERS.

CAN JUST ANYONE OPEN AN INTERNET CARRIER SERVICE, LIKE IN THE DAYS OF THE CELL PHONE CRAZE? REMEMBER WHEN EVERY CORNER IN AMERICA HAD A CELL PHONE CARRIER ON IT? I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE REGULATIONS OR RULES ARE TO BECOME AN INTERNET CARRIER, BUT THESE FLY BY NIGHT, COME AND GO (WITH YOUR MONEY)PIE IN THE SKY, JOE SPORT COAT CON ARTISTS ARE NOTHING MORE THAN THIEVES.

THEY HAVE ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT, NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING. CLEAR TOOK SO MUCH MONEY FROM ME AND STILL WOULDN’T TURN ON MY INTERNET SERVICE. THEY ALWAYS HAD AN EXCUSE. “IT’S A CONTRACT ISSUE (WHEN THEY DON’T HAVE CONTRACTS, OR DIDN’T WHEN I SIGNED UP)”, OR “YOU HAVE NO CREDIT CARD ON FILE”, WHEN THAT IS HOW I PAID EACH MONTH.

OR HOW ABOUT THIS ONE, ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER, AT 3PM JUST WHEN I WAS FINISHING PAYROLL, THEY DECIDED TO UPDATE THEIR SECURITY CLEARANCE DEPARTMENT. SO THEY SHUT OFF MY INTERNET AND PROCEEDED TO ASK ME A SERIES OF QUESTIONS, NONE OF WHICH HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH ME. “UH, WHAT STREET DID YOU LIVE ON IN WASHINGTON STATE LAST WEEK?” I TOLD THEM I HAVE NEVER VISITED WASHINGTON STATE, LET ALONE LIVE THERE. I WAS IRATE.

I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK I WAS SO MAD. THEY DIDN’T WANT TO HEAR WHAT I HAD TO SAY. I TOLD THEM I HAVE LIVED IN MARYLAND FOR THE PAST 38 YEARS AND ALL THEY HAD TO DO WAS CHECK DMV RECORDS. BUT THEY WOULDN’T BELIEVE ME AND WOULDN’T TURN MY INTERNET SERVICE BACK ON BECAUSE I WAS A SECURITY BREECH.

THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP IN AND PLACE REGULATIONS OR LICENSING GUIDELINES ON THESE TERRIBLE INTERNET COMPANIES LIKE CLEAR. HOW CAN OUR ECONOMY GROW WITH BUSINESS PRACTICES THAT DISABLE IT? IF I AM UNABLE TO PERFORM MY JOB, THEN I DON’T NEED TO CONTRACT OUT THE SERVICES OF OTHERS AND HENCE, THE ECONOMY SUFFERS. IT SNOWBALLS AND ROLLS DOWN HILL WHEN OUR COUNTRY IS ALREADY IN A REPRESSED FINANCIAL STATE. THE INTERNET IS THE HEART EVERYTHING, IT IS OUR INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY, WITHOUT IT WE ARE CRIPPLED.

CLEAR NEEDS TO BE OUTLAWED, VACATED, THEY SHOULD JUST DISAPPEAR. THE PEOPLE AT CLEAR ARE MORE SUITED AND QUALIFIED TO OPEN MANUAL CAR WASHES. YOU KNOW WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. THE KIND OF GHETTO, RUN DOWN OLD BRICK BUILDING, WHERE YOU PULL UP AND THERE’S A BUNCH OF KIDS SITTING AROUND WAITING TO ATTACK YOUR CAR WITH SOAPY RAGS.

CLEAR WOULD BETTER SERVE THE PUBLIC KEEPING OUR CARS CLEAN, RATHER THAN ENTANGLING THEMSELVES IN A BUSINESS THEY OBVIOUSLY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

    I have Clear and this story is so not true. I have had them for two years, and I can travel all over the country with my home modem. I paid Comcast much more for over 5 years, and couldn’t even leave the house w/o hoping for a wi-fi signal. This story is just his experience. And every company has their people who had problems. But Clear, is great. I love it.

    They SUCK so bad it isn’t even funny! I agree with every single thing you’re saying. They are the worst “internet service providers” I have EVER dealt with. I feel your frustration. They canceled my contract today, because I told them point blank…You don’t cancel my contract for this shitty ass joke of a service you are allegedly providing people with, I am going to file a claim against you with the Federal Trade Commission for false advertising and report your company to The Attorney General of New York state.

    I said, you will cancel my contract WITHOUT a cancellation fee, restocking fee, and you will send me a letter IN WRITING that states I OWE YOU NOTHING and that the contract has been terminated amicably, OR ELSE! They agreed and my TWO MONTH contract ends Dec 25th. THAT’S RIGHT, I only had them for TWO MONTHS and in that two month time I saw what complete scheisters these incompetent, lying, thieving, scumbag assholes really were. I completely agree with the writer.

    STAY AS FAR THE FUCK AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AS YOU CAN, OR YOU WILL BE SORRY! BELIEVE ME!

    You will be angry all the time and you will feel COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF. And every time you go to connect to the internet you will feel like throwing your laptop right out the window. If you don’t believe me go on clear.com and check out what their customers are saying on their forums. It ain’t pretty! Don’t believe for one second the above poster above. He’s probably an employee of the company.

    I DO NOT KNOW ONE PERSON WHO HAS EVER HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE WITH THESE PIECES OF SHIT!

    CLEAR IS THE WORST SERVICE DON’T USE IT!!! They do not have coverage to keep you connected to the internet. I had to get att&t and cancel clear service. They continued to bill me for months afterwards! People don’t want to waist money what is there problem. Clear is not national. Only go with companies you know of. I WISH THE COMPANY WOULD GO UP IN FLAMES! SO NOW YOU know!

    I have been a clear customer for several months now and I have never had consistent quality of service. I was promised unlimited speeds as a way to lure me in. After so many phone calls to troubleshoot my slow connection speeds I finally was told that their systems automatically limit the speeds of “high volume” users. I use Netflix and Xbox Live only. I don’t even download gigs of movies music and porn like I used to with my previous ISP but somehow I am categorized as a high volume user. My connection rates have gone from unlimited to less than 1Mb/s. They told me that my minimum connection speeds should be 3Mb/s and yet when I complain that my connection speed is currently .15Mb/s they say there is nothing they can do bc my speed is automatically limited. Does this sound unlimited or even reasonable? High speed? Even use-able? I feel so ripped off. I have had nothing but headaches from this company. AVOID CLEAR AT ALL COSTS

    I appreciate folks taking the time to express their opinions. I’m tired of being financially raped by Time-Warner, but it sounds like I’d just be switching the rapist, but not the act.

    This company is the worst. I was a new customer for about an hour and cancelled. They told me that they were only going to run my card for a $2 authorization fee. When I check my account about 10 mins later they had taken $111.17 from me. Of course it has been hell trying to get my money refunded and I keep getting the 3-5 business days story and of course its FRIDAY! Don’t fool with this company. As far as I’m concerned they STOLE my money!

    Clear is a scam. My internet speed and download speed is terrible. It is an useless attempt to watch videos. One of my sisters spent at least 3 hours talking to a tech on the phone and via chat. One tech said that the reason for the slow internet speed was due to the weather. Next, they told her to move the modem towards the window, and over here and there. They also told her to reset the modem and they would reset it from their database. The speed didn’t improve.

    Finally, one tech told her to go into the computer and remove codes in the computer. It took a long time for all of this mumbo-jumbo to be done. Once she was done, the computer froze twice, and the speed didn’t increase—actually it decreased. So, my dad had to buy cyber defender, and the cyber defender techs found 700-something problems in my computer. They said that the computer was on the verge of crashing.

    Look, my sibs and I are very careful computer browsers. We don’t go to risky sites, we have updated virus scans, we even place our mp3 files on a separate hard drive. I’m convinced that the tech who made my sister go into the system was responsible for causing our computer to nearly die. Overall, the internet speed is still terribly slow, and the only reason why we still have clear is because we need the internet service to find another internet service—one that isn’t a scam like Clear.

    DO NOT USE CLEAR. IT IS A SCAM! A FRAUD! FOR THE LAST YEAR WE HAVE NOT USED THIS CRAP. THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING MONEY FROM THE ACCOUNT WHEN IT IS NOT IN USE! WARNING THEY WILL TELL YOU A BUNCH OF LIES! DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY AND WHATSONOT STOLEN FROM YOU!

    Clear has horrible customer service. I was paying $65 a month for service. i found out that I was paying for service i was not using. when i asked them to cancel the service i was using they cancelled my email account and did not mention it. I found out because i was not getting emails and inquired as to why. for the first 3 reps (tech support chat) they couldn’t determine why i couldn’t access my email. They referred me to the customer service #. I was on hold with 3 reps who all tried to restore my email but disconnected my call after a 30 minute hold (for each) the last call attempt I requested a supervisor. The only thing she said was that she would contact the employee who cancelled my email account. and Sorry for the inconvenience. My business cards have the email account that was cancelled just to give you an idea of what damage this has done to me. and all I got was a sorry. funny…as long as I was paying more money than I should have been paying, everything was fine.
