Just last week I was taking a trip home for my sister’s baby shower. I decided to go with Delta Airlines for my flight because it was the cheapest flight that I could get. I know Delta Connection planes do not have the most comfortable seats but I was only going home for a day and a half I didn’t want to spend more than $300 on a flight. Well, to tell the truth I really wish I had spent the extra money to get on a different airline.
To start off, I ended up deciding not to check a bag since I wasn’t going to be going for long and through Delta it costs $25 to check a bag. I got through security fairly quick and got to my gate to rest before my flight. I was at the gate that was on all of the airport boards, and they come over the loud speaker stating that we needed to switch gates. I wasn’t upset about that since the other gate was right next to the first gate.

We got on our first flight in Charlotte, NC at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, we were flying to the Atlanta, GA Airport. We got in the air fine and then we were just about to land in Atlanta early none the less, and we had to taxi for about 25 minutes because the gate that we were pulling into was full. I had a connecting flight at 9:37pm and it was around 8:00pm so I thought that I would be able to make it to my next gate with enough time to sit and relax. Well I thought wrong because we didn’t end up getting off the first plan until around 8:25pm leaving me only like 15 minutes to get to my gate before they started boarding my next flight.
Needless to say I had no idea how far my next gate was going to be from the gate that we landed in. It took me about 25 minutes to walk to my gate, thankfully it was delayed. Our delay was about an hour from when we were originally supposed to take off. We ended up getting on the first plane and we sat on that for about an hour and fifteen minutes before they finally told us about the mechanical issues this plane was having. We had to get off this plane and wait for another plane to come in. We waited inside the airport for another hour and a half before the next plane was in and all cleaned out.
We finally started getting on this second plane and the pilot comes over the radio and tells us that something was missing in the call log so we had to get off of this plane and wait for another one again. We waiting for another 45 minutes for a third plane and we were finally able to get on this plane. Once we got on this plane they had to load all of the catering trays and all of the food and drink supplies. Meanwhile we were supposed to leave Atlanta at 9:37pm it was 12pm and we still had not left yet. We didn’t end up getting into my final destination, which was Rochester, NY until 2am!!
Let’s just say I was not to happy about this seeing that my sister’s shower was the next day and I wanted to be able to spend as much time with my family as possible. However, I was happy with Delta Airlines that they didn’t want to send passengers on a plane that had technical difficulties, no matter how delayed the flight was going to be because of it.
I definitely will not be flying Delta Airlines again for a long time. But if you are looking for cheap flights and don’t care about getting delayed and uncomfortable seats, then be my guest and go with Delta Airlines. If not, I would go with a different airline.
