Hello fellow book lovers!! How many of you have been searching around for the perfect WiFi e-reader to get for yourself or as a gift this Christmas? Let me guess, you haven’t been able to find the perfect one that had all of the perks that you were looking for so you just settled with the Barnes & Noble Nook, the Borders Kobo, the Pandigital Novel E-reader, the Amazon Kindle, or the Literati by The Sharper Image? Believe me, all of you out there who couldn’t find the perfect e-reader, I am right there with you!
All my life I have loved reading and books. I just love to sit down in a little corner and curl up to a good book, any time, day or night. I would just read one right after the other. Even when I traveled I liked to bring two or three books with me in case I wasn’t interested in one and then I could just move right on to a different one that I chose to bring along for the ride. This is always a hassle because I like to shop when I travel for souvenirs. It’s hard to fit everything in my suitcase on the way home with all of those books and souvenirs.
Just last year I started hearing people talk about these things called e-readers. I had no idea what they were talking about and I didn’t understand how they worked and how you got the books on them. I started doing some research on a bunch of different e-readers that I had heard about. I thought that I had found the one that I was going to buy, but then I came across some saddening news about this e-reader.
This specific e-reader is called the Pandigital Novel E-Reader, it had all the perks, WiFi access, E-mail access, Barnes & Noble nook-book store access, and the ability to view videos, photos, and download music and surf the web. The one perk that this e-reader had was the night-reading option. This feature is what really sold me on this e-reader because I love to read at all times of the day, but I also love to read a good book before bed.
I have a book-light that I use, but it seems to be too bright for my boyfriend and it’s also a hassle to turn the page because I feel like I need to re-position the light every time so that I can see the words. Now this sounds all well and good, but I was doing some research before I went out and made the final purchase and I came across this video that went through each feature. The one negative about this device is that the touch screen is very hard to use, the sensor isn’t very good at connecting where you are touching. The other negative is that it is very hard to turn pages by sliding your fingers across the screen.
When all was said and done, I decided not to get this e-reader after all. I then started doing research on other e-readers and soon discovered that not one e-reader that has come out within the last couple of years is the perfect device. They are all black and white screens, no touch screen, you are only able to read on them, or just way too expensive for the product that you are buying.
There are also e-readers that have keypads on them. I don’t know about you, but if I am going to have an e-reader with a keypad on it, then I might as well sit at my computer and read a book. The only positive thing about e-readers that I have realized is the fact that you can have thousands of books right at your fingertips, on one device and it doesn’t take up that much space. These devices are great to have for traveling.
I believe that after all of the research that I have done on the tons of e-readers out there, I have decided to wait on an e-reader, and just stick to my classic paperback books. Even though e-books are most of the time ten percent less than regular books from a bookstore. So all of you book lovers out there I advise you to do the same! You don’t want to go out now and spend all of that money on an e-reader that really isn’t up to par on technology, and all of the features that are available on other devices. Wait until all of the amazing features in all of the e-readers are combined into one device that is reasonable price for all to buy and enjoy the perk of thousands of books at your fingertips!
