Last week I had taken a trip to Chicago, IL for a SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) and it was absolutely amazing.  There is a restaurant that I remember the most out of all the places we dined named Ed Debevic’s.  It was a whitish and green colored brick building with a 50’s theme to it and it is a crazy environment as soon as you walk in.

When we went into Ed Debevic’s, we were greeted by a woman server who had a lot of attitude.  She had taken off to where we were going to be sitting and turned around to us saying “You guys going to sit down or what”.  It is a fun atmosphere for all ages and it includes the workers giving you grief the whole time you are there.

It is all acting and part of working there, which I now say I should go to Chicago and work there to blow off my stress of everyday living.  When we all sat down, we were given these white 50’s deli hats.  We all were laughing at each other because you look goofy as heck in them.  When the waitress came over to our table, she told us to “Shut up and Order quickly!”.  I went to place my order and she then told me “not you, her over there”.

It is just a fun time to laugh and have fun together for the short time you are there.  The food service is quick and accurate as heck!  We received our food within 5 minutes of ordering and we had a group of 10 people.  I had ordered the kitchen sink nachos and a Route 66 Burger.  The burger came with Bacon, Jack Cheese, and guacamole which served on sourdough bread.  It was all delicious and tasty!!!

I had also ordered dessert because I saw on the menu they had a dessert called “world’s smallest sundae”.  I had to see what this truly was all about.  It was a small shot glass filled with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge on it.  It was cool because you are able to bring the shot glass home as a little souvenir.  The prices were very reasonable for a place like this.

Another part of Ed Debevic’s is the dances the waiters and waitress’s do on the counters.  It is a true 50’s, Johnny Rockets type of restaurant.  It is located in the northern side of Chicago and is well worth the time to visit.  Between the harassment you receive when you dine there or the amazing food.
