Today I was able to experience a brand new product of Edys Ice Cream called the Slow Churned Shake. I really thought that it would be an amazing idea because it is so easy to do. All you need is some milk and a spoon to stir and you have your own personal shake. I really love to get a vanilla shake when I am out at an ice cream joint so I chose that flavor.
I got some 2% milk from the fridge and then poured some into the shake. I then took my spoon and stirred the frozen ice cream with the milk. It was a little difficult to mix the ice cream and the milk together because of the frozen state of the ice cream and the amount of space you have to stir. I was really excited going through this process and couldn’t wait to drink the shake.
When I was done adding the milk I had started to drink and I noticed a funky taste. I am pretty certain in was the from the cardboard type container in was in. It had that paper/cardboard flavor and wasn’t the most pleasant drink after all. I was really disappointed in the quality because I am a huge fan of Edys ice cream.
Edys ice cream is usually the first ice cream I look for when I am in the grocery store so I was really shocked with the taste. I had later found out that Edys came out with 4 different flavors for the shakes. These flavors included cookies n’ cream, strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate. I only had the chance to try the vanilla flavor, but the Edys representative had told me about the personal Smoothies Edys had also.
He had told me that they had strawberry banana, mixed berry, sunrise blend, and a tropical smoothie. I really wish I could have tried these because I think they would have tasted much better than the shakes. I have been looking on Edys.com and I it states that these have not yet hit the shelves of stores. I will be interested in trying the smoothies, but hopefully they won’t have the gross flavor in them.
I think that Edys hit this one on the head, but need to make a different package for the container. One thing I really liked with the shakes was that you could control the thickness of the shake. A lot of people like their shakes thick, but I like to have mine thinner so I can drink it when I get it. I will still be up to trying the shakes again and see if there is a difference.
