Extended Stay Deluxe

This past week I was in Atlanta, GA on vacation with my girlfriend. We really wanted to visit the Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain, and the Coca Cola museum, so we decided to head to Atlanta, GA for 4 days. I had looked around for hotels within Atlanta and the prices were around $200 per night, which was a little high for my price range. I had looked around the outskirts of Atlanta for some lower prices for hotels and had found one in Marietta, GA.
The hotel was Extended Stay Deluxe located in Marietta off of powers ferry road. When we arrived the outside looked nice and it was in a good part of town. So therefore we really didn’t have to worry so much about car break-ins or anything like that, which you have to really worry about in the city itself. When we went inside and checked into our room before we brought our entire luggage into the hotel.

We then headed out to the car and loaded the horrible and crappy luggage cart and then headed to our room. When we got into our room, we turned on the light and quickly noticed a piece of molding on the floor missing. We decided just to ignore it because it was around 6 p.m. and we wanted to head out to dinner. We quickly unloaded the suitcases and put our clothes into the drawers they have in the room and then headed to dinner at a restaurant called Fuddruckers which was located right down the street.
When we got back the room was freezing cold so I went to put on the heat. When I went to the turn the heat on, my sock was soaked. I had no clue why the hell my sock was soaked until I looked down at the floor and there was a huge puddle all around the air conditioner/heating unit. I was pissed off because the quality of the room was absolutely horrible! I then went to turn the lamp on in the corner of the room near the couch and it wouldn’t turn on. I made sure that it was plugged in and that the light bulb wasn’t blown, which neither one was a factor.
I was very upset so I went down to the front desk to explain our situation with the room. There was a woman down there and I first stated the part about the floor being soaked. Her response was “That will have to be a maintenance request in the morning”. What kind of response is that to a guest that is staying in the hotel and paying money to stay in a quality place. I then told her the part about the floor board missing and her response was “Yah we are short on floor boards right now, so I’m sorry for that”. I was really pissed because she wouldn’t move us to a different room nor give us any compensation for the crappy room they suck us in.
What really pissed me off was her attitude towards us because we are young and there were two older gentlemen there talking to her. She was a complete b*#%h to us and before I said something wrong to her, we decided to head back to the room and deal with the room. When we were still down there I had also asked if the price of the internet was $4.99 for the stay or what the policy was. She told us “the internet is free, so here’s the code for the wireless”. I then went back to the room and tried logging into the wireless router and it came up with a screen where I had to pay for the damn internet. The internet wasn’t so free like the woman (Alice)had said.
The problems didn’t stop there by any means. We were up all night because the main door for the hotel and the main stair case was right next to our room. All through the night we heard the doors slamming against the wall, people stomping up the stairs with their luggage, and people talking loudly.
It was the worst night at a hotel I have ever had. The next day when we woke up, we headed down to the front desk once again. There was a young man working the desk at that point and we explained the problems we had. The reason for first going down to the desk the second day was because they were out of breakfast items in the breakfast room. In the reservations, it states that there is a complimentary breakfast that is included in the morning. The breakfast includes muffins, bagels, coffee, and fruit which is enough to get a good morning start. The time of the breakfast was 7:30 am till 9:30 am every day. We went down to the breakfast room at 8:30 am and there was absolutely nothing left besides coffee. We were annoyed because we were told there was complimentary breakfast and then we wouldn’t have to worry about paying for breakfast each day.
So that brings us back to the front desk to ask about if they had anymore bagels to put out or anything. The man’s answer was “we ran out this morning but will have some more for tomorrow morning”. I wasn’t really happy with that, but he said there will be bagels the next day so I just decided to go to Einstein’s Bagels that was in the next parking lot over. Before we left I had explained our situation about what had happened with the room and he was nice enough to get us another room. It was just a pain with having to repack everything and loading it back in to car for the day.
When we had gone over to Einstein’s Bagels, it was over $5 just for 2 bagels with crème cheese. It was ridiculous and there was no way that I am going to pay that every day I am here when it shouldn’t cost me anything for breakfast! When we headed back to the hotel room later that night we lugged our stuff into the new room and the room was a lot better than what we had before but it was weird because thy positioned us right above the front desk. Before we were the first room near the front desk and now were right above the front desk. It was like they wanted to keep a close eye on us since we’re a young couple.
It was like they thought we were going to have a crazy party, or get rowdy, or something of that nature. I felt like I was being watched over just because we were a young couple. That night’s sleep was a lot better than the first night we were there. We then went down for breakfast for the second time during our stay and what a surprise! There wasn’t anything once again for breakfast!!!!!! We were absolutely pissed off because this was the second day we got up at 8 a.m. to get breakfast and there was nothing for breakfast.
We then went to the front desk and asked the woman that was working that morning and asked her if they had anymore bagels. Her response was “our truck hasn’t arrived yet and it should have been there already”. I had told her that it was our second morning with no breakfast and that we wanted to be compensated in some way for the trouble of having to go buy breakfast twice. She then told us “her boss was in a meeting at the moment and would be done within 15-20 minutes and then would be able to discuss the situation with him”.
She then told us “what room are you in? I will give you a call in about 20 minutes to let you know what he says”. We then went upstairs to our room and decided to watch a movie to pass the time. An hour of the movie had gone by and no phone call. We then paused the movie and decided to head downstairs to find out what the heck was going on. When we got down there the same woman at the desk stated “when my boss got out of the meeting, he then had to meet with the district manager so I didn’t have a chance to get a word in with him”. What kind of bull crap answer is that?
She could have easily said she didn’t want to cause any problems since the district manager was there because that has to be why she didn’t say a word to her boss. If this hotel was truly interested in making their guess happy as can be, then this problem would have been solved the first morning we were there. When you thought that this would be the only problem, you guessed wrong once again. After we had spoken to the woman and listened to her bull crap, we decided to head out and visit some museums. When we returned we walked in the front doors and saw a sign that was posted on the door. The sign stated that the water would be shut off from the hours of 9am till 4pm. We were checking out that day so we needed to be checked out by 11am. You would have thought that the Extended Stay Deluxe would have made some sense and had the water outage starting at 11am. But nope they like to fully interfere with guest’s stay and create as much trouble for you as possible.
Do not stay at the Extended Stay Deluxe in Marietta, GA no matter if the room is free of charge. It is the worst place I have ever stayed!!!!! As we checked out, I was told that I needed to call the following day to talk to the manager. The woman printed out the final receipts and told us to have a safe trip. I was furious because nothing got accomplished at all while I was there. I am still trying to get things settled from that stay!
