Do you have a website or were you thinking of building one? By now I’m sure you’ve heard of article submissions and press releases. Well when these come to mind there only a few names worth your consideration. Ezinearticles.com is the obvious heavyweight in the article submissions and ezines category. And for press releases PR Web is the big one, but they are paid and the lowest price is 80 or hundred dollars so we will stick with PRlog.com which is the largest of the free press release websites so we have a much fairer comparison.
Now it is important to note here that ezinearticles does have two different levels of membership. One is obviously free and the other one is nine year so dollars a month and makes it so that your article submissions get submitted a little bit faster as they will have more priority (supposedly). For this person will stick with the free membership level, but just so you know I have tried both and there really isn’t much of a difference between them.
I ran my own experiments are running very similar content on both. By placing just average, decent quality articles on ezinearticles.com and the same quality of press releases on PRlog.com the results were far better with PRlog. Even when I want to put great quality articles on ezinearticles the results didn’t come anywhere ne the results I obtainedfrom PRlog. Overall, we are talking that it would take 200 to 400 article submissions on ezinearticles to equal the equivalent traffic from just 4 press releases on PRlog.com.
That is a 5,000% better results with less effort and better quality traffic to your website. To be fair we did this on several different websites in several different niches. The niches we covered were automotive, skin care, consumer complaints, sex, health, education, business, science and more. We found the results to basically be the same with each and every website. The only one that niche or websites that deviated significantly with those that were in the sexual niche.

For some weird reason the sex niche received a much greater flow through from Ezinearticles then PRlog.com. I don’t know but maybe this tells you something about the readership over their at ezinearticles.com. Maybe they have a high percentage of perverts and sexual deviats in their authors or readership? I can’t answer that one with the data we obtained, but I can say it was a little weird (We also later used two other artcile submission websites, Searchwarp.com, ArticleCity.com and FindArticles.com and , and they did not have this large jump in traffic for the sex niche).
So from this you can take the idea that article submissions are not what they used to once day of press releases even free ones are far more important and drive far more traffic. Now, yes you can go with the paid press releases from PR Web and get 10x to 100x more traffic but you will pay a minimum of $80 or more per press release. A lot of car dealers and local businesses have found free press releases to be very effective in all that they need.
I have personally used the free press releases at PRlog.com and highly recommend their website ad free press release service. If you do a little bit of research and look up Google and their advice on what works and what doesn’t work for websites and driving traffic you will quickly find that article submissions are basically dead and no longer worth your time or effort. And I especially can’t see why anyone in their right or left mind would pay a penny to do an article submission whether it be on ezinearticles or any other website. Write the content for your own website instead – you will get far better results, keyword placement, rankings and more. All article submissions do is make money for the e-zine itself – not for you or your website. So, this is a rave or complement for PRlog and a complaint for Ezinearticles as it sucks for traffic (here’s a link that goes more in depth on why Ezinearticles sucks).

I don’t know what you guys are talking about. I have used e-zine articles for years and received lots of quality traffic from their website. It’s easy to post articles, and the $99 premium membership does give you a lot of quality for the price. Your articles are posted faster and you have better editors. I have literally posted thousands of articles on using articles and not one of them is spam.
I disagree as I have found that article submissions on websites like Ezinearticles.com to be very fruitful and bring me a ton of quality traffic. Writing and submitting articles is one of the easiest ways to promote your website in order to generate traffic and increase your earnings.
I am looking into alternatives to costly PPC advertising with the like of Google and Yahoo. I may try this free press release site – prlog. Has anyone here had great results from using free press releases and prlog? I would like to hear from you and maybe swap ideas.
I agree ezinearticles is full of crappy written spam. Most of it is stolen from other websites or news sources and just badly rewritten. Some of their most prolific authors, if you can call them an author, like Lance Winslow, have huge egos and a second grade level education. I mean look at the schmuck – he claims to be highly educated and be on a consulting basis with MIT and Harvard and all takes one look at his writing and you’ll see he belongs back in preschool or kindergarten. This is what most of Ezinearticles is. It’s pure spam.
Thanks for your sharing, it’s very useful!!
I disagree. I used Ezinearticles and it was okay at first. For every 10 articles I would get a slow trickle of traffic. But as time went on I had to add 20 or 30 or more articles to get half the results. Article marketing is on the way out. I was at a conference where Matt Cutts and some other gay guy from Google said that article marketing could be considered as spam and that you should spend your time building and adding to your own site, not to others as you are doing when you submit articles to the likes of Ezinearticles. Chris Knight loves his stupid authors as they write tons of pages of content for him and he laughs all the way to the bank…
I have used Ezinearticles to publish my articles and drive traffic to my websites for years and have had great results from them. Only recently have I noticed that the traffic flowing from Ezineicles has started dropping. It’s still there, its just not as good as it used to be. Were I was once making $4,000 a month in revenue from traffic that mostly came from Ezinearticles.com now I was at about the $1500 a month level. Hopefully it won’t drop any more than that. I do have to find some other sources of revenue though to make up for the difference.
Ezinearticles sucks. I used to submit articles or and found that the number of people clicking through has been dropping drastically. Not only that, but they’ve now reduced to two links from three and they’ve placed a lot more ads and other links to their stuff all over the page. And then to top it off, now they want 90 or so dollars to be a part of their premium membership else they will take forever to submit your articles. It’s not worth it. The days where Ezinearticles sent decent traffic are long gone.
I have definitely found that instead of submitting your articles, just place them on your own website. You will end up getting 100 to 1000 times more traffic per article and make far more money in the long run than by submitting your articles to sites like ezinearticles which are loaded with 99% duplicate content and terribly written articles. All you have to do is just look at the authors on there and you’ll see names like Lance Winslow whom have submitted over 10,000 articles.
Go and take a look at his articles. The majority of them are pure crap and look like they’ve been written by a 3 year old. My advice is to just pass on by ezinearticles and instead write good quality content and put on your own website. Instead of making Chris Knight rich make yourself rich by putting your content to work for yourself and not for him…
Ezinearticles sucks. I used to use them, but I’ve noticed the results keep getting worse and worse. I don’t get near the number of visitors that I used to and the quality is very low – no one buys anything.
I am too thinking of leaving ezinearticles and put the articles on my own sites. Then submit to social networking for indexing.
