Being a person who travels all around the United States, I was in need a dependable GPS system for my car. I had heard a lot of talk from my friends to buy a Garmin or a Tom Tom, but I have no had no clue on which one was the best to go for. I decided to dig up some details about possible types of GPS’s and I couldn’t believe the amount of choices there were to make.
After looking into the Garmin GPS and the Tom Tom GPS’s, I found out that in order to keep up with the most recent maps you would have to purchase them. I was very disappointed to hear this, but I later found on the Garmin website that Garmin offers a program called nüMaps Lifetime. I was impressed by this because I could upgrade my GPS system for a one time low cost of $120.
I was happy to hear this so I decided on purchasing the Garmin Nuvi 1690. I have been using my Garmin for about 2 months and I absolutely love it. I have not had any problems with losing a signal nor finding any location. I am very excited that I didn’t decide to go with a Tom Tom or any other GPS company. I was able to buy it for $325, which I thought was an amazing price so I bought it.
With the Garmin Nuvi 1690, it comes provided with Garmin’s NuLink data service. This service includes telling me any traffic delays, fuel prices near me, and uses Google to search for local points of interest around me. Another feature I use every time is the Bluetooth capability that allows me to talk where I want to go without having to pull over and take the time to enter the addresses.
One negative that I found when I use it is the annoying ads that pop up on the screen. I have found that this is very annoying because I spent all this money and now I need to deal with pop up ads that literally annoy the hell out of yah. Overall I believe that the Garmin Nuvi 1690 was one of the best choices I have made in electronic purchases.
I highly recommend anyone that wants a reliable and accurate GPS to buy a Garmin Nuvi 1690. I bought mine 2 months ago and have not been disappointed. I purchased the nüMaps Lifetime and will never have to worry about paying for any map ugrades.
