Hendrick Honda – Bad service and feeling ripped off!

hendrick honda bad customer service review

I took my vehicle in to the Hendrick Honda service department on South Boulevard in Charlotte North Carolina.  I thought this would be a quick and easy transaction and repair and I would be out on the road quickly – boy was I wrong!  I just wanted a routine oil change and a tire rotation for my Honda Pilot.

One time, I had accidentally hit the curb with my right front tire, so there is a cosmetic flaw on this one wheel that the others don’t have (and I wrote this down so that I would know if they correctly rotated the tires or not – a friend of mine warned me that they didn’t for his Honda Accord).  Well anyway they call me it would take about 40 minutes and I’d be ready to go because they didn’t have many people in there). Well it ended up taking close to three hours.

Well, when I went to pick it up the service department was closing down and I noticed that the rim that hit the curb was on the same right front as it was before which means the tires were never rotated (they don’t remove the tires from the wheels just to rotatethe tires – hey rotate the wheels with t tires on them).  I was mad and since there was no one there to talk to as they had all gone home except for the sales department which couldn’t help me with anything, I went home next day I called and asked for the manager of the service department.

I talked with a Penny Chandler, I believe her name was, and she apologized and stated that the previous day was a very hot day and maybe the mechanic or service writer that was involved communicated wrongly is what was needed to be done and maybe they were suffering from the hot weather and that this was not normal behavior for their service department.  That was the last time I want to Hendrick Honda on South Boulevard for any service for my Honda pilot.  Now, my husband and I take our vehicles to the Honda store in nearby Rockhill, South Carolina.

Since we started going to the Rock Hill, South Carolina Honda service depart we have not had any problems and only the best of customer service.  I highly recommend the Honda store in Rockhill.  I do not recommend Hendrick Honda on South Boulevard.  This is sad because I knew John Hendrick. When he was alive and ran the store this would never have happened.   John unfortunately passed away in a plane accident in 2005 and the store has gone downhill ever since.

I bought an S2000 at Hendrick Honda years ago from a salesman named Micha. I think he was stoned when I saw him. Anyway, the car had been a problem since I bought it. I was constantly taking it in to get it serviced and there was always something wrong with it. I later met a manager from the competing Honda dealer in Charlotte North Carolina on Independence Boulevard and when I told him what I put down and what my monthly payments were he told me they ripped me off to the tune of over $7000! He later printed out the invoices on that vehicle and ran some numbers and showed me that it was far worse than that. If you were to look at the sale of the car, the financing, the extended warranty it all more than doubled the price on and other odds and ends they took me for more than $13,000 in profit on a $30,000 car!

The manager at the other store whom is now one of my close personal friends made sure any car I need to buy through them at Crown Honda I get it at cost. I will never be back to Hendrick Honda again and neither will any of my friends or relatives. They have all been warned about how they completely fleeced me!

I took my car there for service and have an inspection done. The idiots and their service bay somehow knocked the ground wire loose for the OBD II diagnostic hook up and so the car thusly would not pass inspection. They could not tell me why it would not pass inspection. Instead I had to take it to Town & Country Toyota which is almost next door or the correctly diagnosed the loose wire and it passed inspection.

I’ve since tried to contact the folks at Hendrick Honda to have my money refunded because they screwed me over. But of course they would not return my phone calls. When I finally got a hold of the service advisor they said they can issue refunds and they checked out my car fully so it must’ve been the mechanics at Town & Country Toyota.

Not, they were the ones diagnosed the idiots at Hendrick Honda were the ones that knocked the wire loose. They’re like a bunch of dumb moronic gorillas in their garage. I will not be going back to Hendrick Honda – ever.

I went to Hendrick Honda once and it wasn’t good. I went in for a routine old change and their service advisor took me aside and told me that I needed to have $4000 worth of work done to my vehicle. I took my Honda accord to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and had the same work performed for around $400! Why would I what to pay 10 times that amount for the same work to be performed on my vehicle? Hendrick Honda seriously price gouges and takes advantage of its customers.

This is why I will never go back to Hendrick Honda again for service issues or maintenance and I have told all my friends and relatives to avoid them. Lately a friend of mine went there to buy a car and he told me it was absolutely ridiculous – they were trying to charge him $3000 over Kelly blue book value for a car that was basically an extremely rough condition. They had it listed as an excellent condition. But then they took my friend’s car and valued it at very rough condition when it was in excellent condition. Go figure.

Hendrick Honda is all about profits and that’s it. On top of it they charge something like a $499 or $599 processing fee – this is pure profit to the dealer. Do not pay this and do not buy your cars there. Shop around you will always find a better deal and a better price. Besides the salesmen, management and service department are all idiots over there. My advice is go elsewhere.

I went to Hendrick Honda once and met this sales manager named Gus Forbes, whom I think was more interested in my wife than trying to sell me a car. I don’t think he cared that she was married to me. Well anyway, they want to much money for their cars and give you too little for your trade. Then they try and stick you with this $400 processing or administrative fee which is pure BS. Don’t let them kid you Hendrick Honda and their staff is 100% about profit that’s it. They don’t care who they have to rip off to get that. My advice go a little farther out and find a better dealer with better service and better prices.

You are definitely right about that store. Hendrick Honda tried to charge me $2500 more for the same brand-new car I bought at the competing Honda car dealership in Monroe NC.
Not only that, but they gave me $1800 more for my trade in. That’s a difference of $4300 in the purchase price!

I went back and forth between the two car dealers and I actually showed Hendrick Honda the buyers order from the Monroe store. They told me that it it was just a trick or game to get me to come back in there and that they had no intention of honoring that price. So I’m back to the Monroe Honda dealership and they did honor that price. So later that day I took my new car and my receipts to Hendrick Honda to show them that I did really get a deal that was $4300 better at the Monroe store.

The management staff would not come out to talk to me as they could clearly see that I had bought the exact same car had far better deal. The difference here is the Hendrick on the store has many more managers and sales staff and wants bigger profits. So they try and stick it to their customers with much higher prices. This is clear evidence of that.

I could see if there was a difference of a few hundred dollars maybe, but not $4300. They were just trying to rip me off big time and unfortunately from what I hear on the Internet and from friends and relatives and others is that they do this to everyone that comes through their doors. If our review I would avoid Hendrick Honda and at least make sure you shop their price around.

I went in to have my locks fix because it required me to manuelly press down on the switch and the remote could not lock the car anymore. Anyways they diagnosed the car and said that it was one thing and later told me the repair they said was needed didn’t fix the problem. They also made it sound like it was their fault and would not charge me. Then come the time to pick up the car and they said that the second repair and the repair that didn’t work was in conjuntion and I need to pay for both repairs. RIPPED ME OFF!! They were not up front and lead me to believe one thing and did something else.

I had an equally bad experience with Hendrick Honda. Their techs do not know what they are doing and could not fix what was wrong with my car no matter how many times I had to take it back in there. They also chargeway too much money for their crappy service. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CARS THEIR FOR SERVICE! They are horrible!

I stopped going to Hendrick a long time ago. They charge way too much money for horrible service and don’t even think about getting a good deal on a car there – it ain’t gonna happen. They even screw over their own employees. My uncle used to work for them and they took advantage of him and ripped him off too. Stay away from any car dealer with the Hendrick name attached to it!

I went there and the sales staff seemed to be pretty nice and cool. I didn’t get approved for a car loan, but I knew I had bad credit going into it. I don’t have any complaints.
