The HoMedics blood pressure monitor was highly inaccurate and very unreliable. I definitely would not recommend it.
Hi. My name is Joe and I’m married to a crazy lady that causes me to have high blood pressure. So I’m on high blood pressure medications and doctors only to routinely monitor my blood pressure. The other day at the store I found this HoMedics blood pressure monitor there was automatic and seemed like it would work and do the job with ease.
The price was $25 and it does it on your wrist, run your arm per the box it comes in. So I got this and took it home and took it out of the box and read the instructions. Basically all I had to do was hit to start button and let it do its thing. The first time I took my blood pressure with this HoMedics unit it was a little high even for my high blood pressure.
The second time I did it the results came up way too low. I mean if this was true that would mean I no longer have high blood pressure and I’m cured and I don’t have to take these nasty high blood pressure medications anymore that make me want to throw up. Blood pressure medication is the worst. It always gives you a very sour stomach and makes your stomach feel like it’s tied in knots all of the time.
So I took my blood pressure or third time and got an answer somewhere in between that looked about right. I decided to give it rest for the day and that I would go back to it and try again the next day and see if it would be more accurate. If it wasn’t more accurate I was going to have to return it to the store I bought it from.
The next day I used it in the first time my blood pressure came up so low that I would have had to been hospitalized or probably even dead if that were my blood pressure. The systolic was like 30. You can have a systolic blood pressure of 30 and still be talking. The diastolic was five. This would basically it meant that I was borderline dead. Obviously since I’m writing this that was not the case.
I waited a few hours and tried it again. The next time I did not say they had a blood pressure of 300 systolic and 210 diastolic. That would also mean that I’d basically be dead as that is much too high. Before I figured I would take it back in return I wanted to give it one more try. This time it didn’t even register anything for the systolic or diastolic blood pressures.
So I have to say, there was either something seriously wrong with this unit or the HoMedics blood pressure monitors are just plain terrible. After this experience I don’t think I want to go back to using the HoMedics blood pressure monitors. I need to know what my blood pressure is and apparently the HoMedics products are not at all accurate or reliable.
