As I was working on my crappy Dell laptop, it decided to crash I couldn’t even turn it back on to get my information off of it. I am a college student so having a computer is a definite necessity to my everyday life. My life isn’t all about the social downfall in our society, Facebook, but it is about my goal of completing college. Having my Dell E1505 for roughly two years surprised me because I thought that I would have that laptop for at least two more years after that.
Having to look all around at the hundreds of laptops was very exhausting. My biggest trouble was to debate whether to get another laptop or to get a desktop computer since I am going to be graduating in a year. The biggest problem I had was looking at laptops by price. I had found a type of computer called a netbook.
As I was looking, I thought that a netbook was going to be my final choice not only for the small size, but for the very low price. As I was in Best Buy and Hhgregg, I had found a netbook called Toshiba White Mini with Intel® Atom™ Processor N450. I had found it at Hhgregg for roughly $379 and I then thought to myself that this was an unbeatable price.
Before I had decided to buy it, I decided to go home and do some more research on this Toshiba Netbook. This was a decision I was happy I made before I went through the trouble of buying the netbook. One major component I found with the netbooks was the Intel® Atom™ Processor. I had thought to myself that this must be similar to the regular processor in any other computer, but it is far from that.
The Intel® Atom™ Processor is a very minute version of any processor you are used to using for your everyday computer needs. One difference is that you are not able to change the computer background. This means you are not able to customize your Start menu either. So basically if you don’t have the desire to customize your computer, a netbook is for you.
If anyone has to make a choice between a laptop and a netbook, make the better decision and spend the money on a laptop. Not only are you able to customize the graphics and menu styles, but the memory capabilities are even greater. Another important part of the netbooks is the hard drive size. You must have to take in consideration that you will be installing antivirus protection software and many basic computer programs.
If you think that you are going to get away with having a netbook and being able to have Microsoft Word, you are wrong. You are not able to install Microsoft Office onto a netbook due to the small and minute version of an Intel Processor. This is just another reason to invest your money into a computer you will be able to do the maximum with.
