Can you believe these idiots want to sell you this Kirby vacuum cleaner for $1800? Who ever heard of paying $1800 for a vacuum cleaner?
My doorbell rang last week it turned out it was a salesman with a vacuum cleaner. It was an infamous Kirby vacuum cleaner salesman trying to sell me their latest super duper vacuum cleaner. I think he was on crack and by that I mean he must have just smoked it up because he was sweating profusely and super hyper. He asked me if he could demonstrate this Kirby vacuum cleaner to me and when I said that I didn’t have time he kept persisting.
Finally I gave up and let them into my house to show me this vacuum cleaner thinking that that would shut him up and that I would then be able to quickly send him on his way. Boy was I wrong. The first thing he did was throw dirt right on my carpet that I just had professionally cleaned. He then proceeded to ask me where the nearest outlet was. I showed it to him and he then plugged in the vacuum cleaner .
He did suck up the dirt, but any vacuum cleaner could have done that as it wasn’t tracked in dirt or wet. Then when he was done he tried to tell me how great this vacuum cleaner was and proceeded to show me all the attachments and how it filters out pollen and all these other things. Most of the attachments and things it does I would never need. I did not need a steam cleaning attachment for a Kirby vacuum cleaner – especially where he had a Rug Doctor steam cleaner which I am 100% percent sure is far more effective than the Kirby attachment could ever dream of being.
I told the Kirby vacuum cleaner sales person that I did not need another vacuum cleaner and I was very happy and satisfied with the one I currently had. He then wanted to tell me that he would give me a $100 trade-in credit if I traded in my vacuum cleaner on his wonderful for the vacuum cleaner or as so he called it. I again told him I was not interested. He then told me he would give me another hundred dollars if I traded in my Rug Doctor steam cleaner on it.
I told him he must have been absolutely nuts are crazy as I was extremely satisfied with my Rug Doctor and there was no way on earth that I would ever trade down to a Kirby vacuum cleaner with a steam cleaning attachment. Then he told me that if I gave them a check for $100 I could make monthly payments of around $70 and then I could be the proud owner of a brand-new Kirby vacuum cleaner. He then tried to tell me that their repair and warranty service was second to none and that he’s never had a complaint from anyone who ever bought one of his Kirby vacuum cleaners.
I felt that the BS was really starting to get deep now and then a shuttle probably wouldn’t work anymore. This guy was literally full of crap and was basically trying to tell me anything he could to get me to buy this vacuum cleaner that I neither wanted nor needed. Just wondering I asked him what the price was if I bought one and paid cash for it. He said it was $1800 depending on the attachments that I wanted. Who on earth would pay $1800 for a vacuum cleaner with a few attachments?
This guy must’ve thought that I was an idiot or something. At this I then ushered him out of the house because I did not have time to listen to his lies and pushy salesmanship anymore. He kept trying and trying until I closed the door on his face. I then got on the Internet just to look up and see what these Kirby vacuum cleaners are really worth and check out the ratings on them. What I found was that they are basically horrible for the price you pay for them. You can buy Kirby vacuum cleaners all day long for $400 on eBay from people that paid $1800 for them and either no longer can afford their payments or don’t want the overpriced Kirby vacuum cleaner anymore.
Don’t buy a Kirby vacuum cleaner. You can find a far better combination of a vacuum cleaner for between $100 and $200 and a Rug Doctor steam cleaner which is the best unit you can get for your own personal use in my opinion for around $300 on eBay and between $400 and $500 at Wal-Mart.

I can definitely identify with the pushy Kirby saleman. I had a really bad experience with one last year and it will be the last time I EVER allow another saleman into my home. He deceitfully came into my house by sending a woman who begged me to please let her clean one room in my house to meet her quota for the day. I felt sorry for her and allowed her to come in. She brought in this box, then left. Suddenly there was a man standing in my living room who didn’t shut up from the time he came in until he FINALLY left two and a half hours later.
To make a long story short, he finally crossed a boundary when he, without my persmission walked into my bedroom, pulled back the covers on my bed and began to Vacuum my matress. I ordered him out of my house. He left but not before trying to make me feel guilty for not buying the cleaner. My biggest regret was not reporting him to the Better Business Bureau and the company he worked for. He was very intimidating to say the least. I learned a valuable lesson that night and that is to IMMEDIATELY tell anyone showing up at my door without me inviting them that if they are there to sell anything, they aren’t welcome.

I had a sweet young lady come to my door this evening stating she is trying to fill her quota because there is a competition throughout work on who can get the most quotas filled. I felt bad for her because she was so nice. I asked her to go finish her rounds and then come back later as I didn’t feel comfortable saying yes to this without my boyfriend home. She kept trying to push and tell me that he can come home to a clean carpet. I told her I really wanted to talk to him as we have that kind of relationship with each other. She said she would be back in about 20 min. As soon as she left I shut the house up and went to the bedroom turned all of the mini fans on and the television on that way it would drown at the door bell and my dogs wouldn’t bark. I didn’t like the way the outcome was on these posts.

These people are crazy. I had a nice young lady who came to my house and said that they were doing free cleanings in the neighborhood and that she would get $50 if I let them vacuum one room in my house. She told me she had a baby and needed the money. I figured “what they hey, I’ll let them do a quick free cleaning so this lady can get her 50 bucks” thinking it would be a 1/2 hour ordeal.
Then, a different young lady, and a sales guy showed up at my house and WOULD NOT LEAVE. They were at my house for three hours! I asked them twice to leave so that I could breastfeed my baby. They kept saying “yep, we’ll get this done quickly for you”. Then they went on and on about some useless vacuum accessories that I could not care less about.
Eventually, my 6 month old son could not wait anymore so my husband bluntly told them they needed to leave. I clearly didn’t want them there, I clearly asked them to leave, did they really think that they were going to get $1,800 from me for this useless piece of crap?!

I had the exact same experiece as the other reviewers. A young woman came to my door giving me the impression they were a cleaning company, saying they would clean my carpet and it would be “absoutly free”. I told her several times we were going out to dinner shortly (it was 6pm on a Sat night) and that “nothing was free” so no thank you. She presisted. So I said if it was really free, ok. About 10 mins later a large man came into my house, walked right into my living room, and began to unload a box of stuff. I told him that I was sorry, if he had to do a whole presentation, I didn’t want to waste his time. Anyway, he made himself at home, made me vacuum a spot of carpet, proving my vacuum sucked, and then wouldn’t stop talking. I told him several times that we had to leave, as our company had arrived, but he kept saying he wouldn’t get credit if he didn’t do this or that. He was so pushy and I was very uncomfortable. Then when he told me he wanted to vacuum my matress, I told him I wasn’t interested, period. He then tried to guilt me into listening more by talking about his family and how he was just trying to make a living. He also told me the vacuum was $3500! Then after asking for a glass of water, he finally left. I feel like I was deceived and my privacy was totally invaded. I will never answer the door again.

My mom was totally taken by these idiots! I was out at a friend’s house, so was my older brother, as well as my dad who would have kicked this their ass if they kept persisting with him. My mom does have a backbone and will absolutely go on the offensive if anyone tried to scam her but her English is somewhat her second language and these assholes took advantage of that and kept playing they’re shady sales talk and broke her down! We had a family meeting and she told us she was sorry and she was trying to be polite to them! She paid $900 for a dumbass vacuum. Looks like I won’t be getting that new guitar!
Here is what the story my mother told me basicly. She opened the door and a nice young women greeted me. She was very nice and offered to clean my carpets! My mom declined politely but the women said she gets money if she does this and it’ll be quick! Bullshit, it took 4 hours for them to wring out $900 from my mother! My mom let her in but another man also came in and the original women soon left! Can you believe that! Now my own mother is in a possible dangerous scenario. The guy kept demonstrating his vacuum and how it’s better then our own. He went into all of our bedrooms, YES! ALL of ours demonstrating how effective his kirby vacuum is. Now my mom told me she said a firm NO to coming into our bedrooms but the guy was very smooth talking and talked his way on in! The sales pitch continued in the living room to which my mom kept politely declining. The salesguy said a whole bunch of bullshit to get her to buy it like, “I have a family.” “This job doesn’t pay much” and slowly lowered the price. The original price of the vacuum was $1600. It came to $900 when he told my mom she was a nice person and he was going to give her a good deal.
I wish I was home to tell these fuckers to get the hell out and I hope they kept on talking because that’s when I get physical or call the cops! If only me, brother, or dad was home… Then we could have saved my mom a lot of time and money.
