Horrible indoor grill/griddle that is a waste of money!
I was in Big Lots the other day doing some shopping for a new grill/griddle pan. I happened to find a grill/griddle pan that was on sale that week. It is called the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle. It had a price tag on it for originally $15.00, but was on sale for $10. I was really excited to be able to grill inside especially due to living in an apartment that has no grills.
I also thought this would be perfect for cooking breakfast in the mornings and anytime I needed to cook bacon. Having an apartment is very hard with limited counter space, so being able to utilize the burners on the stovetop is going to be very beneficial. I thought all these great thoughts right up till I started to use the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle.
The first time I used the grill side I cooked cube steaks for my girlfriend and I. As the steak was cooking on the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill, the grill started spitting grease that was coming from the steaks. As the grill was spitting grease I was burning my hands and arms trying to turn and re-marinate the steaks. I tried turning the heat to a lower setting, but the grease kept spitting everywhere and it was an absolute mess.
After I had cooked the steaks I had to carefully clean the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle. I had read the manual to see how to properly clean it and it stated to not use a hard scrubbing pad. After reading this I used a wet paper towel and cleaned it this way. I was able to clean it fully without having to scrub it with any hard scrubbers.
My second time using the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle, I had cooked hamburgers and hot dogs. As I was cooking the hamburgers, I found that the grease had no place to go other than the small corner pocket. This little pocket is very small and can barely hold any excess grease. This causes the grease to burn and harden on the grill, which leads to a stressful cleanup.
After using the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill for the second time, I noticed that the grill coating started to flake off and was at the bare metal. This means that the grill was just sprayed with a light coating and is very cheaply made. Now that I have used the grill twice, I have a grill side that has bare metal all over it and the rest of the surface bubbling up.
I would not recommend the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle to anyone due to the horrible construction and the poor cooking quality. Even though the Nathan’s Reversible Stovetop Grill and Griddle may be cheap and available at stores like Big Lots, it will turn out to be a waste of money in the matter of a couple days!!
What a piece of crap, Just bought it this week and followed the directions, grilled a steak and after removing the steak, let the grill cool down as instructed……went to clean it with a nylon scrubber and it not only would not remove the charred stuff but the cheap teflon started to chip off with very little effort, the pan will NOT clean period, I let it soak in soapy water an it still is a mess………am bringing it back to the store and getting my money back ……
, the chipping teflon is a danger to the health and the fact that it is such a cheaply made product that can only be used once!!!!!! save your money………

HORRIBLE PRODUCT !!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY !!!
This was purchased at Big Lots and i was so excited to use it. On my first time using ii i followed all directions and grilled some smoked sausage… upon flipping the sausage i noticed the teflon was chipping… THIS DIDNT EVEN SURVIVE THE FIRST USE!!! I am very upset… such a waste… will try to return or contact Nathans directly…

I also used the Nathan’s grill and Griddle. Used it once and couldn’t get food off. Had even sprayed it liberally with Pam spray. While cleaning, nonstick started coming off. I actually used it a second time, thinking second chance. NOT!!! I tossed it out the other day.

The worst product I have ever seen. As everyone else has stated, the non-stick coating started chipping of on the first use. I have yet to find a way to get an answer from Nathan’s about it. As far as I am concerned, I will never buy another product with the Nathan’s name on it.

Bought one today at Big Lots since it was only $15 and I’d been looking for a good stove top grill. Wish I’d seen all these negative reviews before buying it.
I used it on the grill side to cook chicken. I followed the instructions by cleaning it first and keeping the heat on a medium setting (gas grill). After cooking the chicken and after cleaning it, it looks like the flame burned off some of the coating on the griddle side. It also looks like it warped. I did experience it bubbling up a little and chipping away as well on the grill side.
Wish I hadn’t wasted $15 on it, but you know what they say. You get what you pay for….

Nathan’s Reversible grill is definitely not worth it. It warped after the first use. wORST thing is that Big Lots will not return or give us credit for the item because we do not have a receipt. It was a gift. They will only return it for the exact item. They are ruthless and no manager would help. I will never shop or recommend BIG LOTS to anyone. No customer service.
