Basically speaking, Orkin sucks - they couldn't get rid of the ants or termites and I had to call a competing pest control company that fixed the problem at a lower price!
I have a rental house and my tenants called up complaining about fireants and termites coming into the house. In their own words they said it was a disgusting mess as there were thousands of fire ants and termites. I went over there to see this problem and it wasn’t quite as bad as they had stated. There were some fire ants and termites but it wasn’t a complete infestation. Regardless, I called Orkin pest control to remedy this situation.
I had never used Orkin before, but with tenants I didn’t want to mess around and wanted to use a major brand-name pest control company. So I called the folks at Orkin and they sent out one of their pest control specialists to treat the bugs. He came with his clipboard and walked around the house making notations on his paper and then told me that he recommended a contract for $100 a month to come and spray for the typical bugs that we get here.
I told him that contract was a little high as I’ve paid less than that for pest control with other companies prior to this. He said that Orkin was the best and that when you hire the best you can to pay more. I think that was pure BS and salesmanship on his part. The tenant really wanted to use Orkin because of their nationwide brand or whatever. So I worked out a deal with the tenant where we would each split the monthly Orkin plan.
So the Orkin guy treated the house inside and out for the ants and the termites. Within a week the tenant called me and told me that the ants and termites were back again. So I went over there to check and lo and behold they were. They were rushed this time than they were before so I called up the Orkin pest control guy and he said that it sometimes can take multiple treatments to clear an infestation of fire ants and termites.
It was not infestation to begin with and I know that I’ve had other pest control people that worked with the past that their treatments work and I don’t have to be a part of some plan or monthly payment thing. I don’t know why Orkin whom is supposed to be the best according to their technician can’t kill all the bugs when other pest control services can. The Orkin tech sprayed the house inside and out again and then left.
About a week later my tenant called again saying that the ants and termites were back again. I again called the Orkin pest control guy and his story was the same thing it can take multiple applications for them to kill the bugs in an infestation. This was Orkin I was dealing with your not some run-of-the-mill pest control service from someone on Craigslist. His answer was to kill the bugs this time they would need to fumigate the house and usea tent over the whole house to do that and that it was going to be very expensive.
I told him though that was it I was done dealing with Orkin. I then went and called another pest control company that I had used previously on my own house, Dodson pest control. They came out looking for house and told me it was just a minimal and easy treatment. They sprayed inside the house and out and didn’t require a contract or plan. And their price was better than Orkin to begin with.
Since the Dodson pest control technician treated my rental house I have not heard back from my tenant in over five months about any ants, termites or other pest problems. I don’t know how it is that Dodson pest control was able to quickly fix the problem for a far lower price when Orkin pest control couldn’t fix it even with several applications over a period of several weeks or even a month.
I hate to tell u but orkin doesnt even offer a 100$ PC service. I hate to burst your bubble but Termite contracts and PC contracts are two totally diiderent things. You evidently dont have any clue as to what your talking about. You are probably a District manager with dodson trying to actually make a sell.LOLLOL. Orkin has done my PC for three houses over a fifteen year span and each is 35$ per month. I only had one house actually get termites and that was a 2,000 dollar initial treatment with a lifetime guarentee. so whatever you said about some guy giving you termite treatment for 100 per month is bullshit. But i guess you guys have to try which ever way you can. hahaha
