Payless – Horrible product backed by horrible return policy!!

approval payday loans

I had recently needed new shoes for my work and went to Payless. I went into the store and went to the woman’s shoe section to look for new shoes. I had been looking for shoes for about 20 minutes and a saleswoman had approached me. She had asked me if I needed any help, in which I needed to know if they had a size in the back.

She was able to find my size out back and I decided to purchase the pair of shoes. I am a cook and had worn the shoes everyday to work. After the first week of wearing the shoes, the sole started to separate from the top part of the shoe. I was very upset about these shoes because I had spent $50 on them.

I put them back into the box and went back to Payless. I had explained what happened to the shoes to the salesman and he refused to return my money. I was so pissed off about this situation. He had explained that he could not return the shoes because the shoes were already worn.

I will never return to Payless to buy any pair of shoes or product. Their shoes are terrible and won’t return anything if you have a problem.  They have Buy One Get One Free Sales all the time to get people to shop there!!

Dude, Payless is just the retailer. What is the name brand of the shoes? Look at your shoes. The name brand will be on the bottom or inside the tongue. Look up the brand name online (ie. Timberland, Kenneth Cole, Nike, etc…) and complain to the manufacturer. Tell the manufacturer that their shoes fell apart and that you will post a nasty complaint directed at them here if they don’t send you another pair or something like that.

Yeah, I bought a pair of Dockers shoes there for my boyfriend and the stitching came undone within the first month around the sole. He couldn’t wear them anymore so we di the same and tried to exchange them for another pair. Payless would have nothing to do with it. They don’t take returns the manager said. Must be that is why they have those BOGO or Buy One Get One Free sales – because you will soon need the other one’s as the first pair will break quickly!

I have to agree as Payless shoes is not responsible for the quality of shoes or sneakers they sell. However, they should take them back and give you another pair and then send back the defective pair to the manufacturer. That would be good customer service. But from what I hear they have a purchase agreement with the manufacturers that they can’t return them. In that case they should issue a refund and eat the cost of the bad pair. If they can’t do this they shouldn’t be doing business.

Because all its going to take is a number of dissatisfied customers placing comments on ReportYourComplaint like this and everyone will stop buying their shoes or sneakers at Payless shoes. If you don’t like the way they handle business, don’t go back there ever again. There are too many other stores that sell shoes at the same price range out there.
You can also buy your shoes online and have it shipped through to your door. This is what I do and I save even more money than you did by going to Payless shoes.

I believe that they do back their products on their website under customer service is this
    Product information

    Quality assurance

Our footwear manufacturing experts contract out the crafting of our shoes in more than 100 factories worldwide. We specify the style, materials, construction method and quality standards for safety, fit and durability. And to ensure your comfort, we have worked with a leading podiatrist to build patented comfort features into many of our shoes. All materials that go into our shoes are inspected, and we put samples of finished shoes through “torture tests” to make sure they meet our standards, and yours.

In spite of all that we do to ensure quality, sometimes the demands of real life “torture tests” exceed all the stress testing we can manage to put on a shoe. When this happens, above all we want to make it right for you, our valued customer. If the quality of our shoe does not meet your expectation, simply return it to any Payless store, where you will receive a refund for the original purchase price. You may also mail your return to Payless.com, and we will refund the original purchase price and any shipping and handling charges.

so print it out and bring it in it is their policy to accept returns for defective merchadise.

and their bogo sales are buy one get one half off not buy one get one free. good luck returning.

I would call corporate and complain to them, because the Payless store is supposed to return/exchange all shoes, including worn, damaged ones. The associate has the option to ‘damage’ the shoe for whatever reason on the screen for returns. I know this because I work for Payless and have done exchanges/returns on worn shoes a few times. The manager is wrong for telling you that you can’t return shoes that have been worn. Get the number for the stores District Manager and complain, or go go straight to Corporate, and call them and tell them what happened and what store it was.

I have recently been buying my shoes and sneakers from Ross and Marshalls. I can get some really great deals on top brand shoes there.

I work for payless and their policy is to take back anyshoe. If it’s worn they will just take the option to damage it out. If you have a reciept for the orginal purchase they will give you the money back and if not they are more than willing to give you in store credit or else an exchange from the lowest price of those shoes in the past 90 days. This store was just not providing cutomer service. I know for a fact a good payless store is all about the customer!

I just tried to exchange a pair of shoes I purchased for my son two weeks ago because the sole was becoming detached. Now, I know my son can be rough on his shoes (he’s 5), but two weeks is outrageous. I went in and showed the lady at the register what happened, and was told I needed the receipt, plus I needed to speak to the manager tomorrow in order to get anything done. I went home and called corporate and explained the situation. They told me it was store policy to take the shoes back for an exchange, with or without a receipt, worn or not worn. Tomorrow I’m going back to try again, this time armed with corporates number to call right there, so they can retrain their employees on store policy.

Ok, I don’t support Payless because I work at one and I hate it, but you should call corperate about that. We are required to return damaged shoes. We just have to mark them as damaged. Also, you should call the shoe company about the quality, not Payless.

I bought boots in the last month at PayLess and the boots had problems with precocious cracks on material and entering water (it’s not waterproof – as anounced). However, I went to a store (6th Ave – NYC) with the purchase receipt and I was well attended. The PayLess employee has noted the boots’s problems and I didn’t have any problem to do the return. I recommend PayLess because they are correct about the politics of exchange/return.
