Not too long ago, I used to Mena Trott to move from one side of my city to the other. We didn’t have that much stuff it shouldn’t have taken too long to move our stuff. Except for the fact that we hired Two Men and a Truck and it took far longer than I could possibly have imagined. The first thing was that they didn’t show up on time. They showed up 3 1/2 hours late. Their excuse was traffic was bad. I have never seen traffic in my city that would take 3/2 hours to get from one side to the other plus they’re on my side to begin with!
Anyway so they showed a two guys and this big box truck that looked like a white version of a old U-Haul truck. And we showed him the stuff to move and they got to work. So I thought things were going to roll along now and this move would get done fairly quickly. No, you see I didn’t know or take into account that these two movers would be chain smokers and that they needed to take a break for a smoke every five minutes or so.
This basically double the time of the move. Other than that they were pretty good about packing things up and getting them in the truck nicely. But now remember, Two Men and a Truck bills by the hour, so with all these smoke breaks they are making you rack up a huge bill. Maybe they do this on purpose I don’t know. At one point they ran out of cigarettes and had me run to the store to buy them some. When I got back they didn’t have any money to give me for the cigarettes and they just assumed that that was a part of a tip or something I was obligated to do for them.
Also when I got back they were still sent out front waiting for me to get back with their cigarettes. While finally they got the truck all packed and we’re ready to go and they were going to follow us to our new house. Of course they couldn’t drive at the speed limit and had to go in about 40 to 45 miles per hour on a highway where the posted speed limit was 65. Now please don’t try and tell me that that truck can do more than 45 miles an hour. It was becoming blatantly obvious that they were trying to suck up as much time as they could to get as much money out of this move as they could.
Then we got to the new house they did do a nice job of backing up the truck in the driveway even though it took them about 25 minutes to do that – unbelievable. Then they got back to their routine of having smoke breaks every 10 minutes or so and this move took all the way until probably midnight and it was just across the city. What would normally be a 15 minute drive. And on top of this they somehow managed to scratch the wood floor in the entrance way and thinking that I wouldn’t notice it they put a moving blanket down there and left it there when they left. They said I could keep that. Probably because they didn’t want me to see the scratch underneath it.
Then when they were finally all done they came over to me and told me it was customary and expected that they were to receive a 10% tip of the total for the move. I estimate this included their smoke breaks and such. They just laughed and then said, “hey, either you pay us now or we’ll just add it to your bill.” I must say that that was probably the worst moving experience I could ever have imagined having to go through. I cannot recommend Two Men and a Truck. Go with a professional moving company instead because in the end Two Men and a Truck will initially quote you a lower price, but when you equate all of their breaks, smoke breaks and super slow driving, and slow work you will end up paying far more than you would have for a professional moving company.

2 men and a truck ruined my couch and scrached my floors all up. They were very slow and cost far more then they quoted. I would not use them again.

I ended up having to use another moving company – there were just too many complaints on Two Men and a Truck out there on the internet on websites like this one.

2 Men + a Truck sucks. They broke some of my furniture in the move and did their best to get out without trying to tell me they broke anything. But boy were they demanding of a large tip at the end.
