I am a sophmore college student at the University of Michigan trying to start investing in the Stock Market. I have been starting to watch different programs on MSNBC such as Jim Cramer’s Mad Money show to get a feel of what stock are all about. I have asked many different people about their opinions and viewpoint with the stock market and they all tell me that I am crazy to invest any kind of money in the stock market.
I feel that since the stock market is at this point of all time lows, that it is best to invest for when the economy gets better. As I have been watching Mad Money, Jim Cramer says that Gold Stocks such as New Gold (NGD) is a prime stock to buy at this point in time. I have been wondering what to do because I don’t want to loose my money, but I would like to invest some money to provide myself with a retirment when I get older.
I would like some advice on what stock are really worth investing in at this point in time and that will come back to provide me with a gain. I understand that the stock market is not 100% guarentee for a return on investment, but I would like to get some insight of what people really think about stocks.
Another factor that I haven’t included is that i amn working with around $1,000 total to invest with. I am a college student but have managed to save money in case I would ever need it for emergency. I feel that my money should be invested instead of sitting in my savings account earning a penny of interest every year! Would you invest at this point in time of our economy??
I was really upset after seing the stock market today due to the tragic events in Japan. I really couldn’t believe how an event in Japan could drop the stock market price of New Gold for example down $.70 in a day! I really need some advice on what to to do with my money. I simply know that I should really trust anyone else with my money, but I really just want to get a feel of what things have worked for people.
Times are changing and ways of investing are also changing from what they were before the first crash of the market. I have been researching and asking close friends, but I want to hear what the public says!
