My letter is written because my daughter has worked for Victory Secrets for over a year and because of some medical issues she has had to call off from work 4 times twice for health problems and once for the death of her grandfather and the first time was because her car window blew out on her way to work. When she has called in to call off, her manager Matthew chastise her each time.
The last time we had just left the ER and she had been given medication and told to stay home because they weren’t sure which side effect will take effect. Her shift was schedule to start at 6pm and she called at around 1 in the afternoon to let him know what the doctor had said. He didn’t ask if she was ok or what happen he asked her 3 times so you are telling me you’re not coming in.
She said yes then he said I haven’t seen you in a while and last week you called off she had to correct him and let him know the week before he called her and told her not to come in and that she only works weekends. Then he said well I forgot but I’m still going to have to cut your hours because you are unreliable, and that’s when I took the phone. All of my daughter’s coworkers call her before anyone else to get her to work their shifts when they can’t. She was written up for not calling in her on calls because she was in class and couldn’t step out to call two hours before.
So she asked if she could call before classes and they said no that would be too early. Back on subject when I took the phone to tell him I didn’t appreciate him speaking to her that way not even caring if she was ok or not he hung up on me. Then when I called back he did it again, not only am I a parent of one of their ex workers but I was also a customer. I feel since Victoria Secrets is such a big company and their employees and customers are not important then my business should go elsewhere including my family and friends.
Facebook is a powerful word of mouth and I plan on telling my story. They need to re think the people they hire as managers or may pretend to be a new worker and find out for themselves. My daughter was so happy about getting that job because she is a fashion merchandising major in her junior year in college and wanted to one day intern for that company. It’s sad when money comes before human concern.
