Victoria’s Secret – A Store Filled with Rude, Ruthless, and Fashionless Employees

approval payday loans

When I need to go clothes shopping, I usually head to the mall because there are so many different places.  Last week I went to the Carousel Mall in Syracuse, NY and did all my clothes shopping.  One problem that I have with shopping malls in that they are usually all over packed with people that are in a severe rush.  When I was there I must have gotten bumped into at least 10 times!

After I got my shopping done at Sears, Macy’s, and JCPenney, I headed to Victoria’s Secret to get myself a couple bras.  Deciding to go here was one of the biggest mistakes of the day!!  As soon as I walked into Victoria Secret, I was greeted by this rude woman that gave me horrible looks.  I believe that she was glaring at me with this awful look because I am slightly overweight and have a large bust size.  I felt that since I had a larger bust size that I shouldn’t have even entered the store.

As I walked closer to the woman, she had asked me rudely “what are you looking for”.  I had answered to her that I was just looking around and then just went passed her.  The other problem I have with the workers at shopping malls, it that some of them run on commission or are just there to force people to buy.  When I had talked to my friends about the clothes at Victoria Secret, they told me about what happened to them the last time they shopped at Victoria’s Secret.

The last time they had shopped there, they had tried on a shirt and asked the woman that was there how it looked and she had told her that it look really good on her.  She had sent me a photo of her in the shirt and it didn’t fit her at all!!! I don’t think that the employees that work at Victoria Secret know what fashion is.

As I continued on my venture for a couple pairs of bras, I was having a tough time finding my size due to my larger bust size.  Instead of wasting time looking around for my size I had asked a woman that was working in that department if they had any of my size in the bra that I wanted.  I thought that the woman at the door was rude, but I was definitely wrong about that one.

This employee had asked me what size I was looking for and she took a double look at me.  She then told me that I was too large to shop at Victoria’s Secret, in which at that point I was pissed off.  I then turned around and walked right out the door and will never return to Victoria’s Secret! If you want to shop at a store that has employees that don’t tell you the truth and tell you that you are too large to shop there, then go ahead and enter in the wonderful world of Victoria’s Secret.

I also have a complaint about Victoria Secret. They allow their store mangers to bully their employees. I ventured into a VS store (in Michigan) and immediately heard profanity and yelling behind a closed door. When I asked another employee what was happening, she stated that her fellow employee was in a “meeting” with the manager. You could hear the manager using profanity and yelling followed by crying. I asked why someone doesn’t complain to HR about this vulgar, demeaning manager and she stated they had SEVERAL TIMES to no avail. How can Victoria Secret allow such people to be managers???? After the “meeting” the manager came out followed by her beaten down employee. Can I tell you…this manager was a woman with ratty “goth” hair, overdone make-up and a truck driver persona. What??? I thought of VS as a classy store but now I’m just turned off.

I don’t care about the store. I just like the catalogs with all the hot, sexy chicks in underwear! ;)

I am familiar with the A2 store being described here, and can identify with your experience(s) with this manager.

With the economy the way it is today you’d think Victoria Secret could find a better candidate to steer the ship. I guess in this case they’ve settled for someone who can steer the truck.

It sounds like their HR department needs a bitch-slapping for not getting involved.

Does the District Manager know the facts about this manager?:
    - acts inappropriately when presented with minor issues
    - does not lead by example
    - does not communicate (listen)
    - disregards company dress policy (unless jeans ARE appropriate?)

Does anyone have a contact at Victoria Secret corporate headquarters that can address this?

I went to Victoria Secret at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa, Ca on December 21st & had the worst experience of my shopping spree. I bought four VS Pink lotion in a pink box containers. They were packed by the cashier in one big VS bag by the cashier which was fine so I asked if I could have four small VS bags, one for each gift that I bought. The cashier who I guessed was new was told by the cashier next to him not to give any small bags to me. I told her then that she can have the big bag but just put my items in each seperate small bags so i can give them that way. Could you believe that this reasonable request was refused? I then decided to just returned the items & that senior cashier said then let her! It’s now Christmas & it still bothered me to be treated that way. I’ll never shop at that VS location ever again!!!

I can relate. For months I was hoping my daughter would quit her job at an Arizona store. She was a back room manager, and the DM in Arizona is the absolute worst imo. This woman is one of the meanest people I’ve ever heard of! You know the saying how things flow downhill, well this DM was successful in causing my daughter’s supervisors to respond in kind, except for my daughter. She simply decided that if being in business meant you had to be so nasty, she would pursue a different career altogether.

As I witnessed my daughter’s stress levels affect her health, I was beside myself. No one should dread going to work that much! She knew that every time she walked in there, she was going to get yelled at, and she was right. Just recently, they called her to the back office – you guessed it! She’s now unemployed.

Suffice to say, after reading this thread, Victoria Secret’s bad management is company wide policy. They simply have no respect for their employees and hopefully will lose A LOT of business for how they operate!

due to the bad economy and lack of jobs, employers and supervisors feel they can treat their employees as bad as possible and the employee will take it because they need the job.

i am honestly sorry for your horrible experiences at victorias secret. first off to the lady that is over wieght..what did you expect, the models are not cows, why would they have a bra size for you? instead of embarassing yourself maybe you should have checked the sizes avalible online. now that thats outta my system. i am not a skinny little girl making this comment, i wear a 38 d and love the store. it honestly all depends on the employees. if the manager hired a bunch of suck up bitches, thats on the one store, not the nation wide victorias secrets, go to another store for better customer service, and report the store to corprate thats horrible, easy as that.

I agree with you, I’m overweight as well and I feel like they just (the employees) don’t want you there if you are. I went to a VS at The Avenue to just go in and browse (my mom had a free panty coupon) and they just stare at you. I was like, okay? And then when we got up to the register to pay my cashier was rude. I noticed that she had asked a girl who was probably fourteen if she wanted some Angel Card, I’m 16 but I look a little bit older, I don’t know what it was but I think you get a discount if you have it and the girl said no but when I got up to buy my things the cashier was rude to me for no reason and she didn’t even ask me if I wanted the card (not like I would have gotten it anyway) but still. I’m black but I don’t think they were rude to me because of that but I’m not sure. Treat customers with respect. VS is superficial and I don’t plan on shopping there ever again.

I work at a VS in Washington state. Perhaps one of the best VS in the west side (last I heard we were the top store) I personally want to apologize to everyone on here or reading these and have had the same experience. Sometimes as much as someone wants to work at VS because of the recognition we get for working there (which in all honesty is pretty stupid..its a retail store, we arent the models ha) but like I was saying, some of the girls can be rude because they are only taking the job for the ability to say they work there. Ive worked with numerous girls that I cant believe the way they have spoken to someone or even the vibe they have given off. I do take into thought of how their home life can be but when they are at work, that should be put aside. I have had a complaint about me once before and I do admit it was partly my fault on my play with words. (A girl came in for a free panty which was one size fits most, she was a bigger girl so I tried to let her know it was one size, only to comfort her feelings that it will fit. She took it that I meant she was too big and left the store to only call later and complain. For the rest of the day I was in near depression because I wanted to apologize to her) Bigger girl or not, you have all the right to come in our store dont let someone stop you. I love almost when bigger bust girls come in. Because I get to content with her. Hear her problems and help her realize shes not the only one. I have a horrible problem of being a 32D..we have about 3 bras that only come in that size. So we all have an issue. But theres ways to work around it. Size the girl, give her a sister size or biggest size to try, show her styles..and if that fails..tell her online has choices. And thank her for coming in. Because now she at least knows where to go from there.

I hope all of you do try VS again, some of us really do want to make you feel special when youre there. Sadly the wrong people work in the stores youve entered and they shouldn’t be there. When I got hired on a quote was given to us about the store. Which I honestly can remember word for word but do remember the meaning. It said something along the lines “we are here to inspire the things which are closest to our hearts” Which I personally like to work by. To all the employees that have read this. Remember that. We sell items that are closest to the customers hearts. The things that can make an outfit, make a person feel beautiful..we inspire every woman to feel like a real woman. I cant even express how happy I am when someone tells me personally or tells me about another employee how good she feels in our stuff and thanks us for our help. Thats why I work here..I think more employees need to figure out the reason they still are working there..or why they shouldnt be.
